My run for Congress may be over but my voice will continue to be - TopicsExpress

My run for Congress may be over but my voice will continue to be heard. As a retired US Army veteran with multiple tours in combat I would like to highlight to anyone who will listen that over the course of 24 hours, numerous veterans will take their own lives and thousands upon thousands will fall asleep tonight under bridges or on the streets. Some of these people will fall victim to those who look at them as nothing but trash but in reality it is the veteran who has given everyone the ability to walk the streets of America in freedom. Homeless shelters are desperately needed for our veterans. No person who has spent years defending this nation should ever have to worry about going without a bed to rest or food to eat. We have been at war for the past 12 years and the majority of every soldier, sailor, airman or marine have had to experience combat. Our Vietnam Veterans were never welcomed home and given the attention that they needed and deserved which caused many to hide inside of the bottle which eventually took many of their lives. It is time for veterans to start stepping up and running for offices across this nation. Who better to understand the burden of war than someone who has had to carry it. Who better to represent the needs of the returning combat veterans than those who know exactly what they are feeling when they step off of that freedom bird! I may not have won my race but I will always be willing to speak on behalf of my fellow veterans out there. My dedication to my fellow brothers and sisters in arms will never go away! If you know of anyone in your areas that are speaking about establishing veterans homes, please jump on board and lets assist in making these happen across our state. There are THOUSANDS across West Virginia (Which historically has always pulled more than our fair share when it comes to fighting for this country) that have issues with shelter and one institution just wont do!
