My sis had these old photos that I wanted to scan before they turned even greener than they were before… The one with the more faded color is of my first wedding, in 1977, to Lydia Montoya…the worthies in the shot are, from left to right, Mike Slim Bartley, Tom Thamo Bartley, ME, Danny Newburn (who died recently), and Mike Spike Davies…I recall I swore to Lydia I wouldnt drink that day, and I held to my word…we drove to a cool old hotel in nearby Bisbee AZ (The Copper Queen) and I mention it only because Slim and his girlfriend followed us down there and also got a room--we were a pretty close-knit group of friends--but I always wondered what Lydias true feelings were about that!!! Hey, whatd she want? I didnt drink, did I? hahahah The other picture is of Slims wedding to Lydias sister Judy, TEN YEARS LATER…he cursed me because a day or two after this wedding I told him Lydia and I were splitting up…he really was pissed--hed imagined us being brothers-in-law and being together at family functions (which were a-plenty--the Montoyas had 11 children and they all LOVED family get-togethers, and the truth is that I knew I would miss this most of all)…Same group of guys--we REALLY were deep friends with each other…we all went to the same high school, and a couple of us went to the Univ of AZ, which was in the same city, Tucson, and three of this group became firemen--in fact Danny, the one who recently left us, became Fire Chief of the whole city…the pic: Danny, next to a real studly-looking character--ME in white pants? YO…Thamo, Slim, Spike…Spike and I are on FB, and I wish to hell the damn Bartley brothers would get with the 21st century…:v
