My sister, Christie Harper, sent me this email today, and told me I could post it. Thank you, Christie! And, anyone who works in libraries should read to the end. The DJs on the local station I listen to in the morning were having a discussion about technology and how you dont need to remember things anymore because you can just google it. I missed the very beginning of their comments, because I had not got in the car yet. But then a guy called in to respond to their comments and he said that he wanted give a shout out to the Toledo Public Library. I think he said he was legally blind, but he said he calls the library whenever he needs to know something and they are great about helping him out. The problem comes sometimes when it is nine or ten oclock at night and the library is closed. So he calls the Honolulu Public Library because they are still open. He said he has called so much he is on a first name basis with some of the staff there! I guess maybe if he doesnt get charged for long distance (is Hawaii part of a plan and not international calling? It shouldnt be) what difference does it make what library he calls! So, kudos to some good librarians out there, whether they are in Toledo or Honolulu or Evansville!
