My sister Humanitarian/ entrepreneur/difference maker Pumla Dyafta shared something that got me thinking about the world we live in and crime. How fear closes us in and makes the world a worse place for us. Recently a young man in his 20s with his friends robbed a little girl of her phone. My sister went to confront this feared gangster in the neighbourhood, telling him of te damage that he makes to the community, his selfishness &&& The gangster replied that Everyday he is looking for ways to improve his life. When he came back from prison he came into an empty house, all of his family member swept by death. He has no one but his friends. Cannot find employment due to criminal record, no guardian or someone to account to. He would appreciate a chance to improve his life and contribute towards a better society. My sister was deeply moved, so was I and asked him to assist with watering their vegetable garden for R20 and a meal from their soup kitchen. Everybody needs a second chance, if u know of a way ro improve the circumstances of this mans life pls let me know. Helping him would mean changing his friends and lessening criminal activities in society.
