My sister Jackie Logan Marquess called me this morning just devastated. I didnt know what to say...as it only further validated my discuss and dismay at animal right violations... It all began with her normal routine of walking her dogs... As she and Tom-Tom and Ms. Shelby began their familiar exercise route, in a rural neighborhood in Rutherford County, TN, she observed other familiar dogs neighborhood dogs lying around together as dogs do. Two of the dogs had recently moved into a rental house nearby, but seemed to have been acclimating themselves to the other neighborhood dogs quite well. Beside my sister, lives a Sheriffs Deputy, so between him and the dogs, my sister felt pretty safe despite living in this rural country setting. After she and her dogs return from their walk around 10 a.m., she suddenly hears a loud gun-shot. What was moments ago, a bright sunny morning, suddenly becomes alarming...as she is thinking, whats going on? What is happening? To her complete horror, the sheriff deputy has decided to shoot one of the new neighbors dog! Why? As it turns out...not for any reason...just annoyed despite the fact he has five dogs himself roaming freely. Maybe he was just pissed off and thought hed just go shoot a dog? Jackie calls the police and animal control, and of course they tell her you can shoot a dog to protect your property. But none of the dogs were rabbited or fighting or doing anything... Even though the Sun is still shining, it has become a gloomy day... What the hell is wrong with people? This public servant must have some anger issues! He may be a peace officer but this may be a clear indication or warning that something is amok with him. Hopefully, this situation will bring some darker issues to light...
