My sister and I attended the first workshop of the Lake Simcoe - TopicsExpress

My sister and I attended the first workshop of the Lake Simcoe Stewardship Information sessions. It was all about the different programs that are available to landowners and others around the lake so that they can do environmental remediation. Its very interesting to see how the money rolls out when legislation to protect is enacted. This is the on the ground results of a government committing money to a goal. Anyway, it was well presented and the pathway to access the dollars is not very complicated. Many of these projects can provide some employment for local youth and get them involved in helping to heal the lake. There are to be at least 24 of these information sessions in the next two years. Afterward I went up to the coordinator and spoke up for the need for the local Anishinabe Kwe to address these stakeholders at these meetings to provide our perspective and to get support for our initiatives. So I will go and speak at the next couple of these sessions and I will be inviting other kweog to come and present as well. With that, theres some greater chance of success for these projects. Just some thoughts of mine.
