My sister-in-law sent me this link. It is remarkable on so many levels. These are self-portraits of a man with Alzheimers. There was one per year. One of the thoughts that came to mind with the progression of his style (or deterioration, if you like) and the changes in artistic trends since Impressionism. Look at Picasso and his skills early on and the transitions he made throughout his life. We tend toward the sympathetic when we know this mans condition. But as the strictures of the past dissolve, are these getting closer and closer to pure expression? Are they, in that way, more truthful? imgur/a/cO9Ol
