My sisters little dog was having a great time at the river, running and chasing sticks. He suddenly went very quiet and hunched up. It was only a 20 minuite car ride home and when she went to get him out of the car. his back legs collapsed, he pooed and peed himself and shrieked in pain. Instantly they took him to the vet where he lay collapsed on the table showing no reflexes and twitching. It didnt look good. We all thought the worst, poisoning etc. My dog died of something similar a few years back, I never got answers:(. Well in this case a simple blood test showed he was hypoglycemic and Louies little body was shutting down. The vet treated him with an almost instant, turn around recovery. Something so simple, a burnt out dog having fun could have ended seriously bad. The advice (from the vet) is to rub a little honey on Louies gums the next time there is a big river outing. Hope this might help others if they find they are dealing with something similar.
