My skepticism and doubts vis-a-vis the so-called transformation - TopicsExpress

My skepticism and doubts vis-a-vis the so-called transformation agenda and now national conference stems from the fact that, try as I could, I find it difficult to reconcile the configurations on the ground with common sense, the cheapest but most uncommon commodity in Nigerian market of leadership. First, if the transformation agenda is a genuine and serious minded plan to transform the country positively, why was national dialogue not featured in it from the very beginning? Is not a sign of incompetence and of defective and shallow reasoning on the part of the promoters of the agenda that such a fundamental and essential element of positive transformation of the country was not factored into it from the beginning? Second, how does the Presidency hope to effectively carried out and implement the outcomes of a durable National Dialogue within the space of less than one year before general elections are due? Apart from all these concerns, how does the Presidency hope to get anti-dialogue forces like BH on board? Thirdly, if the Presidency is sincere about the proposed national dialogue/conference, why had it not, long before now, made any attempt to build national bridges of mutual understanding cutting across the lines of political affiliations? The consequence of the Govt.s failure to do this may be exemplified by the rejection of the proposed national conference by the ruling partys major opposition, namely, APC. Honestly, the more I look at the scenario, the more the image of a heavy-laden cart positioned in front of a gaunt-looking horse becomes clearer and more assertive to me.
