My son, Jake has taught me so much in just 16 short months. He’s taught me what is means to love unconditionally. He’s given me a glimpse into the love our Heavenly Father feels for us. He’s shown me what it means to love someone so much it hurts, what it feels like when your heart is so full it could actually burst. He makes me feel so blessed, loved and honored that God chose me to be his mommy. He’s taught me selflessness. He’s shown me what it means to give your whole self to another — not to make yourself feel good, look good or for others to notice — but solely for the happiness of that person. He’s taught me not to pass judgment. People go through struggles and are fighting battles every day. Hes taught me to see life through different eyes, through Gods eyes, to see people for who they really are and to see their struggles and pains and want to encourage and help them along their journey. He’s taught me to keep my priorities in perspective. We can all list our most important priorities, but do we actually live that way? He reminds me every day of whats really important in my life and where my priorities really should be. He’s taught me patience — to have patience in the short term, as well patience in the long term, that I don’t need all the answers right now but I can trust the Lord with my whole heart, whole mind and whole soul and that will be enough. He’s helped teach me what it means to be still and how to not lean on my own understanding but to fully rely on God and Him alone. Because of him, I’m a better person. He has taught me all of these things without saying a single word, without doing a single thing. Thats remarkable. Thats beautiful and thats amazing. That my friends, is God. So in this new year, remember to put your priorities in place. Remember to keep God first and give Him all the glory for the many, many blessings that He has given you.
