My son Jeffrey has been writing poetry for as long as I can - TopicsExpress

My son Jeffrey has been writing poetry for as long as I can remember. This is part of an ode he just wrote for two people who died within a few hours of each other, an ill friend who was gasping for air at the end, and sadly, Robin, who was cutting off his own air at the end. Goodbye, Robin. You were in the same jury pool with me three winters ago I sat in the row behind you in the curvaceous charged courtroom at Marin County Civic Center As you sat next to the former university chancellor Who had handed me my teaching award nine years earlier. After I spilled my guts to judge and barristers, earning a strange dismissal, You cracked jokes in the back of the room and brightened everyones day (or so I heard later from a juror who had not been dismissed) I have read a decent portion of the verbiage you have stimulated these two mornings USA Today said we awoke this morning to a world without Robin Williams As if your DVDs and VHSs did not sit on every suburban shelf As if your smile were not etched in the recesses of every cortex Indeed, you will pass from the consciousness of the world about as quickly as Shakespeare, I expect But then that business with belt and doorframe: God save me from that Give me calm Give me fortitude Keep me walking One foot in front of the other QUIETUS Farewell jrs 8/13/14 kentfield: moonlight drive
