My son Shawn is now headed to Jacksonville, North Carolina, USMC grunt base USA (Camp Lejeune) were I was stationed in 1978 in a little section of the base known as "Court House Bay" where I trained as a 1371 Combat Engineer, Field Explosives and Battle Field Construction... He has also just picked up his Corporal Strips, E-4 pay, (NCO)... The little shit is moving up in the Intelligent Field quickly and I am very proud of him... He just spent 2 weeks at home after a 2 year deployment to Okinawa, What happens to him next is any ones guess. But it is my understanding that the unit he is going to may be up for redeployment to Afghanistan sometime in the next 12 months. We are so proud of his hard work and dedication to the Marine Corps. and the great country that we both served. So from an old Marine to a young Marine... Semper Fi!...
