My son Wade photographed from a distance re-painting the bike, of his now deceased, yet truly ever beloved Grandpa Charlie Logan. My children Sarah and Wade spent many hours with their Grandpa some of which were riding beside him on the very bike Wade is now reconditioning. It will be a year Tuesday since the tall, thin, gentle man, known as Grandpa to them, left his earthly home. But, the tears I know my family has shed over this wonderful mans passing, might say otherwise. Im quite sure my son is reminiscing in his thoughts, as he re-paints that old worn out hand me down bike, of more simplistic, adventure filled days gone by, spent with him on the farm. Many of you have lost loved ones, and many are still healing from the loss. However its good to remember that love is synonymous with letting go and pain is prolonged by holding onto. Im so proud of my family for embracing his passing with grace, for grace signifies maturity, and to mature in the incubator of earths realm is why we are here. Charlie would boast in his Charlie Logan way of riding twenty to thirty miles on the little Miami bike path well into his eighties. He loved life, like no man Ive ever had the pleasure of meeting before, he inspired me along with my children and my wife to be the best person we could be. Great human beings dont necessarily do great things, but they do inspire people around them to do greater things. You are missed Charlie, and just know, that Wade takes a part of you with him whenever he rides that old worn out reconditioned bike.
