My son and I have been victims of Police Harassment in Quebec City. It was 11 oclock pm, it was snowing very hard and visibility was at quite difficult. The Police officer, his name was Guillaume Picard, asked for my Drivers License, proof of insurance and Vehicle Registration. In spite of many attempts to show him the correct paper work, he kept claiming that my insurance had expired. I asked him to let me come out of the vehicle to show him the correct date but he did not allow me to do so. After half hour of being terrorized he asked me to step out of the vehicle and clean my car which was covered with snow by then. Even the temperatures were far below zero, I followed the instructions clearly. After that he issued me a fine of 160 Dollars claiming that the car was covered with snow. People talk about the Police of the US, which is more than often brutal, or about the Brazilian Police which is well known for its corruption, however today I was exposed to Police cruelty, being left outside in the cold, despite of the harsh weather conditions. I plan to go to the Police tomorrow to file a report, however, I am almost certain that nothing will come out of it. I arrived home with my hands burning from the cold and my body shriving. My son was certain the the police officer was expecting me to give him some money. To be frank, I did not have this impression. This is absolute power in the wrong hands!
