My son and his fiancé are going to the Dominican Republic for 3 weeks this summer. They will spend one week serving in two orphanages - one of which is a refuge for all disabled children. Another week they will be spend time in a Haitian village of refugees who were uprooted after the earthquake. They have no running water, electricity, or basic sanitation. They will be working with the pastor of the community and his wife, who is a nurse, to help set up a clinic for the people of this village. The last week they are teaming up with members of BreakDown St. Louis, to put on a prom and graduation for teens who otherwise would not have one. Im so excited and proud of them as they are raising their funds to go, and yet its always a little scary too, even though they have gone on trips before this one.
