My son came home today, and said he was bullied. The following is my response to the school system : FROM: RICHARD SIMLICK, ENFIELD CT, Respectfully, To whom it may concern, **********I am writing in regards to an incident I am just learning about that occurred today on the bus home from school today. “Zach”, who is a fourth grader from Eli Whitney and almost a foot taller than my second grade son, spit in his face and stabbed him with a pen on the arm. My wife got my son, David Simlick, off the bus and informed the driver of the pen mark and the dried spit on his glasses from “Zach”. David goes to Hazardville Memorial School. The driver said that a formal complaint would be filed against “Zach”. **********While I do not doubt that the discipline process will be properly enacted, I would like to go one step further. I would indeed prefer myself making a personal phone call to “Zach’s” father, to express my concern. But since I don’t know his last name, and would have no recourse to his phone number from a phone book- the following would be my only option: **********Zach from bus 17, from Eli Whitney- will never physically engage my son again. I would like you, respectfully, to inform all parties involved of my most sincere promise to call the Police and file former Assault charges against Zach. And if I’m ever informed of something like this happening again, I may even unfortunately have to add the school and the bus company to a list of parties of interest. **********And going even further, if you would please forward my request for a formal apology from Zach, to my son immediately- to his family. I know whatever reluctance of his folks to follow through with this would be out of your hands- by I, however, know that they just might do the right thing. My son has been forewarned not to have any communication with Zach. I hope that this will be a mutual agreement between both sets of parents. And if not, then any verbal or (most certainly) physical Assault on my son ever again by this person will be met with the full force and recourse of the Law. Please inform the family of this. Thank you for your time.
