My son is an A level student, and I know first hand the pressure that too many of our young people are having to cope with, including increased financial pressure because of the Tory cuts, it is unacceptable and unforgivable.. An increasing number of young people are fearful in the face of an increasingly uncertain future. Depression is often a healthy response to an unhealthy situation. Many students are placed in an environment that is about stressful competition for limited university places, rather than one of cooperation and positive learning. Thats not a criticism of teachers and lecturers, its a criticism of our education system, which has become increasingly commodified, especially under the current coalition government. University fees have tripled under the current government, and the cost of living has risen enormously, whilst support has been withdrawn
