My son is asking about getting a dog again. The truth is, I want a dog myself too but I dont know if I can afford it. It is a 10-15 year commitment to baby an animal till its end of life cycle. Veterinary bill is shockingly high, I have heard of my friend talking about $1,200 vet bill and $2.700 for final days. I love the idea of having a fuzzy animal companion at home, but am also aware of the emotional needs it requres. I am torn.
