My soundtrack tonight: Three Dog Night: Shambala: youtu.be/R8bXs9Er3iw When this song was released, it was in my top-five all-time, and I was blown-away by the vocal blend. Its very hard to find a live recording that comes close to matching the album version, but this one, with its string orchestra and terrific vocals, as well as great lead guitar by Modesto-native Mike Allsup, does. I heard this again the other day as the backing-music for a B of A commercial. And even though I always get a twinge when I hear something like that, like what have they done with my childhood, I had to marvel at how well this song holds up.
