My speech at the District Secretaries meeting held at Anna Arivalayam. #DMK #Kalaignar “Our General Secretary Perasiriyar said this movement is not conducted for victories and defeats, our electoral opportunities, some benefits that we are to obtain or to be obtained and that all those benefits should wholly accrue to Tamils; the growth of this movement does not wholly depend upon the opportunities for electoral victory; though it will help for the growth of our movement only that is not the primary principle and aim of us. Because this movement was started by Thanthai Periyar to get rid of the title ‘Sudra’ and remove slavery and has a long history. When it reached the situation of us coming back to power, at an unexpected time due to the action of our friend MGR, Jayalalitha was readied and she developed herself using MGR’s influence under the shade of the Dravidian movement formed by Arignar Anna and all of us and worked to undermine and destroy the movement itself. Not only us and our comrades but when everyone was waiting for an end to the dangerous style of her functioning, we witness they have themselves got entangled in the net and unknowingly helped us for reviving the Dravidian movement. I do not want to say that we made great efforts for that, do not want explain how many difficulties we encountered and allied with various parties. It is also not necessary. But, it will not be an exaggeration to say that unexpectedly she has herself ended the illusion which we wanted to remove and accomplished the objective we wanted to score and thereby shown gratefulness to us. Why I say that she has shown gratefulness is because the benefits obtained by Jayalalitha from the days of MGR to our time due to this movement are more, the fame she got is great. All these accrued to her due to our sacrifice, toil, wisdom and potential and Jayalalitha got the opportunity to fully exploit them. But she is not grateful. She is paying the price for being ungrateful to those who made sacrifices to build the Dravidian movement, and for humiliating Anna, after whom they named their party. But I am not worried about it, rather it can be said that I am happy. Though her party was named after Anna, she denigrated him through her activities. She created a situation in which not one could question her. She had the audacity to call the DMK an evil force. Now her fall has come as a lesson for her. You all know that the influence and publicity she got were through money mobilised by corruption. But some innocent people mistakenly thought that she was an incarnation of a great force descending to safeguard people of Tamil Nadu, Jayalalitha also systematically developed such an idea among them through drama of those who had benefitted from her which has no come to an end. It is no exaggeration. Yes it’s a drama, which they themselves ended. I was also bit sympathetic. I can understand that you all feel that I am accustomed to sympathising with enemies. But this tragedy on the stage of this State has only happened like that. Those who till yesterday believing that she is an ‘empress’, ‘Mahakaali’, ‘none on par with her is born and she is all powerful’ and the ‘devotees’ who to establish it were taking upon us have all now realised the truth and turned dumb. It is only for further exposing that dumb drama that just beating a snake won’t help, its venom should be removed. It is for this purpose we have met here today. This should be only taken as a simile and not understood literally. We should destroy our opponents and should not allow them to make a comeback. But I am not advocating violence. As Perasiriyar said our aim and objective are great. We have to reshape district DMK for wider, faster, stronger and constructive growth of the party. We are thinking of restructuring organisational structure in consultation with you all. On listening to the speeches of the participants today, I will categorically state that we have enormous opportunity for increasing our strength and potential for the growth of the party in future. I second what Perasiryar said that this is not an election-oriented party but for strengthening Dravidian consciousness for the sake of this society and Dravidian race and we fail to safeguard it we will be cursed by the posterity. We have the potential to prevent and stop those like Jayalalitha trying to weed out the Dravidian movement for which we are prepared to sacrifice our lives. Even if we fail to become ministers, legislators and come to power at the State of Centre we will be remembered for ever. Nobody should forget that we are working for strengthening the movement without giving room for selfishness and personal benefits. If we forget discipline any progressive schemes and election victories will not stand time. If discipline is slackened the objective seal of our movement will get erased. Let this meeting give the opportunity to seek the answer for the question whether we are going to safeguard this seal of objective. We will bear in mind all the methods suggested by the friends for carrying out our campaign even in situations when the party has to be legally protected at the district level. At the same time you have to bear in mind to maintain discipline and protect the party which will be the tribute to Thanthai Periyar and Arignar Anna. The contents of the verdict in the disproportionate assets case in Tamil will be issues as leaflets which should be widely distributed to the people to put an end to the wrong propaganda that their guiltless ‘Amma’ had been unnecessarily sentenced. Only our Perasiriyar paved the way for the trial in Bangalore for this huge looting from which the truth came out taking everyone by surprise on the magnitude of the loot. You know what were all the tactics adopted to cover up it. Defeating all those designs a judge of Karnataka has exposed the truth on the loot of thousands of crores of the money of people of Tamil Nadu. Now they claim that they will succeed in their appeals. We will also greet if they succeed in their appeals. But I am duty bound to point out to all that it is a big question mark. If the lady thinks of escaping from this case of swindling several crore rupees and come back to power and again fool the people of Tamil Nadu, it will only be a dream which will never turn true. Your cooperation is necessary to create that situation. I remind you that if you briskly take up the work of organising various forms of campaign on the matters deliberated here, not only the party, but this generation itself will be protected.
