My step-sister Tania Nicole said something the other day that has been weighing on my heart. She said that she took a class on Islam, and that they are very similar to Christianity. This is simply not true, but I failed to defend the faith at the point in time. Its VERY IMPORTANT to recognize something here. The two faiths (and Judaism as well) are similar HISTORICALLY, but are diametrically opposed DOCTRINALLY. All three faiths trace their roots back to Abraham. And so yes, the HISTORY of the three is similar. From Adam to Abraham, we should expect them to have similar stories. But when it comes to TEACHINGS, they are so very, very different. I tried to think of an analogy, but I could only come up with a poor one. The Republican and Democratic parties (which in reality are governed by the same powers, but in perception are different...so lets look at perception). One could say that these two parties are very similar, and are essentially the same. They are both american. They both can trace their roots all the way back to the founding fathers. They both claim to rely on the constitution and the bill of rights. They both exist in all three branches of government. Etc., etc., etc. So they are the same, right? No! Because their believes and teachings (which is REALLY what they are) are opposed. They are different. So it is with Christianity and Islam. They have similar historical backgrounds and roots, but their TEACHINGS (what they REALLY are) are vastly opposed. Christianities main tenant of faith can be summed up in John 14:6. Which says, Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. Islam disagrees with that. Judaism disagrees with that. Hinduism, buddhism, and all other faith groups disagree with that. That makes them fundamentally different than Christianity. A person cannot be a Christian AND a moslem. Im including a video to emphasize this point. Please keep in mind that the speaker is VERY ANTI-CHRISTIAN. He is what I would consider an enemy of the faith. He very vocally stands against Christianity and says he is an atheist. But he makes some very good points here. https://youtube/watch?v=OpdGK3F4pC0
