My story. Four and a half years ago I weighed 260 pounds. Over the course of my marriage I had gone from 150 when I got married up to 260. I was not taking care of my body. I spent countless hours at school working with students which meant lots of fast food. I moved to Boston, went to grad school, moved back to Texas started on my PhD and then moved to California and started my life over. Part of that start was losing a great deal of weight through exercise and depression. I say depression because oddly enough I lost my desire to eat food. Panic and anxiety had a strong grip on my life. So three years ago I weighed 160. I was happy with my body, but not happy with my life. I couldnt find a job and then I got pregnant. Throughout my pregnancy I only gained 20 pounds and within a week of giving birth I was down to 170. Then I started to eat and eat and eat. New baby, finally a new job, and a new medicine to help with anxiety. So as I write this today, I weigh 245. Im not proud but what I am is smart. I know that I now have someone beyond myself to think about. I have this vibrant human being who I want to spend as many days with as I possibly can. Im changing my medicine on Monday and hopefully that combined with a new outlook and clean eating and exercise I can become healthy again. I refuse to be obsessed with what the scale says but rather how I feel. I have been following Skinny Jeans Dreams and Krystle for three years now. She has become my inspiration and if you dont follow her I suggest you start now!! I want this group to be for women who want to become healthy. If you want to post your weight please do - it is an accomplishment. More importantly please feel free to post and share your recipes, your workouts, your successes and your struggles. Being healthy is a journey and like any journey it has its good days and its bad days. The point is - we keep journeying. I hope you will take this journey with me.
