My story on the 1969 Monza Convertible, serial #5825 of 6000, - TopicsExpress

My story on the 1969 Monza Convertible, serial #5825 of 6000, reportedly made on the final day of production. Bought the car via eBay in 2009 because I love Corvair convertibles, having owned two 64 Monza convertibles since buying the first one in 1982. It is an original Michigan car but, surprisingly, had almost no rust, having been well-cared for by the previous owners. My wife and son joined me on the Georgia-Michigan road trip to pickup and trailer the car back home. Upon its arrival on Georgia soil, I posted photos and details of my purchase on the Corvair Center Phorum. Despite the pleas from the keep it stock folks, I knew that this was going to be a tastefully done resto-mod to suit my idea of a really nice car for cruising. After 5 years, more money than I care to admit, much help from many people and a lot of joy & frustration, the car turned out better than expected. I love turning wrenches, having done most of the mechanical work but left the body work, paint and interior to the professionals.
