My take on Emirship of Sanusi Lamido Sanusi As much as I wish to join millions of well-wishers on the emergence of Sanusi Lamido Sanusi as the new Emir of Kano, a thought just crossed my mind, there must have been a lot of political permutation and calculation from both ends, but come to think of it, ideally traditional institution is supposed to be independent of partisan politics, ok what if its the other way round ?, for me, this Kano scenario is a bad precedent for our traditional institution if it must worth its sort, this Kano scenario suggests that every potential Oba, Igwe, Sultan and Emir should henceforth align with a political party for them to enjoy a smooth ride to the throne (how logical ?). All said and done,it may be too early to rejoice on SLSs Emirship because I know two facts are obvious (1) SLS and GEJ are best of enemies (2) GEJ still remains the number 1 man in the country and hes still the Commander-In-Chief of Armed Force. Im waiting to see what happens next. Fingers Crossed!!!! Meanwhile congratulations to our Newest Emir, Ilufemiloye 1 of Kano
