My take on recent situation for record sake: First, the background: I am not Qadris fan or follower; I voted for PTI (and may again do so) but I am no diehard follower or fan of anybody. I just consider PTI and its leader far better than all available options. I would be (and have been) the first one to openly criticize any of the bad policies/moves of PTI. More important thing for me is to get rid of the fascists and sham-democracy chanters, the looters, who have been looting our kids future. Second: what presently PTI and PAT are doing is not the ideal thing to do, it has many bad points too. But then, what is the choice? One party adopted every civic and legal way to get their grievances redressed regarding rigging, which evidently took place. They were never heard by government, tribunals, commissions, parliament and courts. What choice do they have? They basically are protesting against fake mandate so saying that they should bear this till completion of tenure becomes illogical. Other party workers were attacked upon at their place (then there was no rally etc) by state police, direct firing killed 14 and dozens were injured. No punitive measures were taken, even FIRs were not registered. So, what option they have left? Pragmatic situation is that we all know that LEAs and Judiciary are the most corrupt elements of state. So, would anybody see towards them for relief, and when applied for, were they provided any relieve? Third, should not we appreciate the disciplined and non-violent gathering of such huge crowds? Has this any precedence? How many of us (most of my friends here belong to social and academic strata that is looked upon as elite) have previously participated in political rallies and how many have participated now, even with families! Fourth, the critics are unable to find anything solid against the protesters, and most have been covered above. Nobody is talking against democracy, neither the law, but if these two exist! My two cents (though extended to 2 dollars length, which I usually dont) :-)
