My take on the recent Uber taxi rape - TopicsExpress

My take on the recent Uber taxi rape incident =================================== An incident like this must be condemned and no one should try do give any excuses on the anyones lapse of duty. I am stating my views. Please do not assume that I am trying to justify anyone. 1. NOTE: NO, I AM NOT SAYING THE GIRL IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS INCIDENT. But after a late night party not only females, any one is unsafe in a city like Delhi. A lot of work is to be done, BY THE GOVERNMENT, to improve this situation. None of the governments have worked in this direction so far. 2. Attitude of males towards women need to change. Heard is so many times. But as long as we think it is ok to use women as commodity this is not going to happen. Whenever I see partly bared pic of a female model in an endorsement, I feel sad. I start to hate that company. Seriously. And unless everybody does that I am damn sure the attitude isnt changing. These advertisements are not endorsing a product but rather they are endorsing the idea that women are objects. 3. There are enough laws to protect every citizen of the country. Whenever such an incident occur new laws are added. Do you think this will help? If the officers are not doing their duties nothing will change. Accountability must be put in lace. --- Saw a useless debate on Times Now yesterday. The only sensible person was Kiran Bedi. Political parties, including BJP, shamlessly trying to score over this incident. At least the party which finds it ok to raid women at midnight, AAP, should not preach others about sensitivity towards women. THIS WAS NOT AN ELECTION DEBATE. Pleeeeeeeese... 4. When everyone else failed - the victim, the culprit and the secretaries - it was governments responsibility to protect. Apart from legislating new laws over existing nothing concrete had been done. I want to see the light. Narendra Modi please do something over this. Not for this one incident; but I want change for any other such incident. Need to relook at the laws from scratch. Got to fix accountability. Layers over layers of legislations help the culprit even more. I do not want justice in 40 years. And no, your hurried up action will not fetch you my vote in Delhi elections; rather a thoughtful action will. I want something concrete. And I want death penalty for such criminals, however the hypocrite activists and politicians oppose. They are the one who supported the 18 year old juvenile in the Nirbhaya case. Dont care about them. Two tasks for you (1) Fresh laws, clear up old dirt (2) Fix Accountability of the officers. In this particular incident I consider that the government and the officers are responsible for the failed enforcement. The driver and the company are the law breakers.
