My take on todays penalties: Brad Keselowski has been fined - TopicsExpress

My take on todays penalties: Brad Keselowski has been fined $50,000 and placed on probation through Nov. 12 for violating: Section 12-1: Actions detrimental to stock car racing Section 12-4.9: Behavioral penalty -- involved in post-race incidents. Tony Stewart has been fined $25,000 and placed on NASCAR probation through Nov. 12 for violating: Section 12-1: Actions detrimental to stock car racing Section 12-4.9: Behavioral penalty -- involved in a post-race incident. Matt Kenseth & Denny Hamlin do not receive any penalties. I agree with Brad Keselowski being fined and placed on probation, but the way NASCAR handled the rest of the penalties is inexcusable. Tony Stewart was also fined and placed on probation, but nothing for either Matt Kenseth or Denny Hamlin. Stewart played a minor role in the whole situation by reversing into the back of Keselowski which might not be the smartest thing, but when you are hit for no reason on pit road you would have crumpled the hood of the other car as well. Hamlin waited for Keselowski to come back around on pit road and then they had their issues post race on the track and in the infield. Heck Denny even threw a towel at Brad after they got out of their cars. Matt Kenseth however had every right to be pissed at Keselowski as he had already taken off his belts as he got hit from behind on pit road. To see Kenseth go after someone you know he had to be mad, but he did go after Keselowski and tried to fight him. I am all for boys have at, and love to see a nice donnybrook between two drivers after a race. (I just wish pit crew members & NASCAR Officials wouldnt break it up) Heck I would love no fines or anything of that nature if two drivers want to settle the score with their fists. NASCAR however has fined drivers and placed them on probation in the past for incidents such as that like Marcos Ambrose and Casey Mears at Richmond this past spring. To make matters worse ABC decided to place the blame for the whole mess on Tony Stewart on Good Morning America on Monday by bringing up the Kevin Ward incident from over the summer. What do you expect from the same network that didnt show the Cup race on Saturday night until the lap 25 caution. Can also add Inside Edition into lack of reporting, but then again TMZ has made them irrelevant the past few years anyway. To me it almost seemed like reporter who know nothing about NASCAR have become so called experts even though they dont know what is going on. The media had already persecuted Stewart on Monday, and NASCAR had a chance to silence the critics with the whole mess, but today fell short of that. We should be talking about going to Talladega where Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Jimmie Johnson both need to win of are eliminated. Instead we are talking about Tony Stewarts minor role in the whole Brad Keselowski Versus the World incident. Obtw Kenseth had Keselowski in a choke hold, but according to the media that is besides the point. It almost seems like NASCAR decided to let the ABC Good Morning America crew (who probably considers NASCAR a southern redneck sport that doesnt fit into their uppity New York City lives.) lay out the penalties for Charlotte. That would be the only reason as to why NASCAR caved and made it seem like this was all Smoke and not Keselowski. For those who dont know, Kevin Harvick happened to win on Saturday at Charlotte to join Joey Logano into the next round.. ~Mike
