My thanks to alderman Vince Connelly and alderman Wendell Moore - TopicsExpress

My thanks to alderman Vince Connelly and alderman Wendell Moore for going to LR with me for our meeting with the state joint legislative audit committee last Friday. They represented your city well. I presented documentation to the committee that showed the monies from the city for our Cedarville Senior Center were not donations but in fact appropriations, line items appropraited in the budget. These were researched and approved by the then council in 2004. Also I included the schedule of payments since May 2004 thru the present, along with a letter from the Crawford County Director of the Senior Centers. She handles all of the Centers financing and received the call that the appropriation was approved by that council. I also produced the first invoice of May 2004 stating for contract services. And the last of this year stating the same. The committee thanked us for the diligence in making corrections to our financial system even before the recommendations of the audit were brought to us. They have offered their help in any other matters, and were very positive toward the City of Cedarville as the solutions we have formulated and put in place in this financial situation where done with expedience. I was asked to report to them in the next year and give them updates. I thank the auditors for their thorough review which finally caught the unauthorized transactions of the treasurer. No one, even past auditors (including a previous complete audit by the state auditors), mayors or councils caught this. I wish I would have been the one to catch it. And for that Im sorry. But at least I have been able to assist the auditors locating the many transactions, and gathering the documents to get this to prosecution. I also thank our special prosecutor as he continues to get returned every dollar to our city. Brenda is doing a great job getting our new system implemented even though our financial documentation from January thru April are still in the state police hands. And now we wait. This may be another long wait; Im not sure how long it could take. It is in the attorney and prosecutors hands. Pray we get justice and the return of the funds.
