My thought for the day :) :- Revealing a Secret The Prophet (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said: When a man says something, then glances left or right, his words are a confidence to be kept. [Tirmidhi] Telling a secret means to inform others of a remark, action, or state which one learns of from someone who wants it to remain hidden, whether it be good or bad. To inform others is to hurt him, and hurting others is unlawful in Islam. This hadith makes it clear that a person does not have to swear you to secrecy, or make you promise not to tell anyone. As a Muslim, you are to be sensitive to what another Muslim wants, and fulfil their need. If a person does not appear to want others to know about something concerning them, then you need to guard their trust. Only if keeping quiet will harm another persons rights should you divulge what you know, that too only to the concerned authorities, and only to the extent that they need to know. Simrah :)
