My thoughts on Imran Khan on Samson Simon Sharaf thread. I can understand your lament. What is missing is the historical perspective. It is safe to assume based on the 20th century history that military and civilians will never share the power permanently. Its always going to be a contentious and confrontational relationship. Unless the army have toady civilians like Shoukat Aziz or Choudry Shujaat. These guys have no constituency, thus no desire to lose the perks that come their way by being sycophants. Any political party with roots and support of stakeholders in business or other interests groups, will not reconcile with military for long. The PPP suffered from lack of support from any powerful interest group. It had support in feudal class but feudal can not deliver, nor can they fight back. PLMN had both so even if the army overthrows it, it will be back. PTI has not shown any support from the business or other interest groups (the international powers are the other groups, as stakeholder in Pakistan). That is the primary reason for confusion in the PTI leadership. They have no clue what they want. You cant rule a country on Jinnahs vision alone. Jinnah too was supported by business and international stakeholders. So his vision died with him, now Imran Khan has to develop his own vision and that vision develops by hooking up with different groups and segments of business. No matter what you write, you will continue to see a different face of PTI everyday. He will support your ideas in the AM and in the PM someone else would make some convincing pitch and he will issue another statement. PTI is no alternative to PLMn until it develops alternate narrative. Imran Khan lacks the political acumen needed to grasp a situation. The people with him are non politicians too, so they will continue to come up with shameful ideas and appeal to Imran on personal level.
