My thoughts on criticism of natural hair, (ref. Baby Blue Ivy hair critics): Respectability politics at its best, some peoples self consciousness and love for self has been compromised so much, the only way the maintain their sanity and peace is by falling in line with the white supremacists opinion or standard of how they should live, look and think. Your hair is your strength, it is your crown. You should wear it proudly kinky, curly, nappy or however you feel. I have so much respect for sisters brave enough to embrace their natural self instead of slapping themselves silly upside the head with itchy weave tracks and toxic chemicals in their heads. If you arent allowed or accepted enough by even your own people to be who you are, then who do you turn to, the same devil that practices sociological, psychological, physical and economic manipulation warfare against you daily? Some think its simply hair, but in many ways its your the freedom of your heart, your mind and soul that is under fire and sadly we aid and abet the onslaught.
