My three positives for today are about my Big Hurricane Baptist - TopicsExpress

My three positives for today are about my Big Hurricane Baptist church family. I love this group of people. They have prayed for me. They have given me moral support and love. They are like family. From our pastor, Bro. Ken, to John Bush, our choir director, to each member of the congregation, they have never let me down. Their prayers have lifted me up.2. As many of you know, there are 3 of church members who have been fighting cancer this past year…Kassie Mahan, Sonia Burrage and me. In a small congregation that is very unusual. We have propped each other up with prayer. I can’t tell you how many times I have called/text or emailed my friends for question/answer time. Please continue to remember all three of us in your prayers. 3. Our pastor, Bro Ken, came the day of my surgery and was there for me and my family. Also, Bro John Bush, my choir director, was there. When I was in the “holding room,” I asked Bro. John to sing with me, “It Well With My Soul.” There were already patients lined up ready to be wheeled to the operating room with only a curtain between us. If fact, a few minutes earlier, we heard chains. We could see just enough through the curtain to know it was prisoners---complete with handcuffs. They plopped down in the bed next to me on either side. The policemen—with guns on their hip, accompanied them. I often wondered if it wasn’t meant to be that we sang, “It Well With My Soul.” When we began, the entire holding room was silent at our A capppella version of the song echoed throughout the room. I thought they may toss us out, but no one said anything. I had planned on singing it for days or at least humming it. When Bro. John showed up, we just sang it together. We were actually witnessing and making me feel at ease also. Bro. Ken prayed and I was off to surgery. I love all of my church family. I was able to attend church every Sunday during chemo. I need this group of people as much as I need the air that I breathe. They are a loving group of people.
