My three week trial is finally done! Im disappointed that we ended up with a hung jury after 3 days of deliberations and going through 200+ real estate documents that were submitted into evidence.The final vote was 10-2 in favor of a guilty verdict, but we could NOT swing those two jurors. The defendant was on trial for real estate/mail fraud for 13 properties he was the real estate agent for, but the real surprise came when we found out, after a mistrial was declared, that he was currently in prison. He was the bicycle bandit that robbed a bank with a fake gun back in 2010. Its really a shame that we could not get a conviction but the prosecutor assured us after the trial that he will be back in court again. Im so happy that I get to spend the last 7 days of school with my students. :)
