My time in New York so far has been an absolute journey of grace and love. Lovers from all over the US have been gradually making their way to New York for a gathering that took place yesterday to honor the life of the late, great Shaykh Hassan Cisse and the keynote speaker was Shaykh Mahy Cisse his younger brother and my Shaykh. The Mureeds in New York go all out for their Shaykh and have put him in the Waldorf Astoria, one of the most prestigious hotels, maybe in the world, a symbol of their love but also of gratitude. For those of us who have spent time in Senegal will know that our Shaykhs give us their very best and this is a apt token of appreciation. It has been a wonderful experience to meet my sisters and brothers some I have met in New York before, some from Detroit who I met earlier this year, others I spent time with in Medina Baye and some I have met here online but the connection of hearts is real, its so surreal to have friends of Facebook that you LOVE and then you meet then in real life, its a remarkable feeling! it felt like a massive family reunion, I guess we were all together in the life before this, and I ask Allah brings us together in the life after this. To be in the same city as my Shaykh again has been more than a gift, I always look for golden opportunities to slip into his room whilst he is receiving waves of guests and hide in the corner, making dhikr, I dont have anything to say, I just want to be there, in his presence. I love to observe and absorb, people come to him, some with joy and love in their eyes, others with heavy hearts, some just cry and others like me just want to be there, near him. The gentleness in his gaze, the patience in his presence and the warmth of his smile is captivating, even if hes not speaking to me, I feel it. I have loved every second so far. Gods Mercy is limitless I am swimming in Grace right now. Al Hamdullilah
