My top 5 most influential drum n bass dj/producers (big ups to Ri - TopicsExpress

My top 5 most influential drum n bass dj/producers (big ups to Ri Ver for this thought-provoking music post and nominating me): 1) Db Deejay ~ DBs album The Secret Art Of Science unequivocally made me want to spin drum & bass, the first time I heard it. His track selection is unmatched in my opinion. Not to mention, I grew up in northern NJ, right outside NYC, and would frequently visit Breakbeat Science, his and Daras record label/store to buy vinyl records. Needless to say, DB is the #1 pick. 2) LTJ Bukem & goodlooking records ~ LTJ Bukems jazzy melodic downtempo grooving side of drum & bass is a genre of its own. He is one of the pioneers of that sound, and used to tour with STS9 back in the day. My older brother introduced be to LTJ back when I was like 15, and currently his label is one of the few I have almost the entire discography of. 3) Klute - Official ~ Klutes textured spacey atmospheric style of drum & bass always moved me in different ways. Love his multi-genre style. I own a bunch of his records on vinyl as well. 4) High Contrast/London Elektricity ~ Another 2 favorites of mine, which I would say equally lie as favorites, are High Contrast and London Elektricity, both of which I was introduced to around the same time via Hospital Records. Lush cinematic, jazzy, liquid drum & bass at its core… usually with beautiful female vocals… still possibly some of my favorite tracks ever are from these producers. And London Elektricity live band? Ummm… that is an absolutely amazing thing right there! 5) Bop ~ This is a newer artist that I found via Hospital Records sub-label Med School. This minimalist sounding, future micro-funk style of drum & bass is honestly some of the tastiest sounding frequencies Ive yet to find. Bops releases all have such deeply intelligent tracks and I highly recommend anyone checking out his discography, as well as EVERYTHING on Med School (my favorite label at the moment in drum & bass). Well… now I get to nominate some folks for this fun lil status: Austen B Cricket ~ Jarred Michael Trantham ~ John Ebert ~ Vagabond Arts ~ Maribeth Heinsinger have fun! :)
