My top ten albums for a Prog magazine poll are (possibly, but its so difficult to choose!!!): 1. Mike Oldfield—Tubular Bells. The first album I bought back in 1976 and 40 years on I never tire of listening to it. I want it played at my funeral! https://youtube/watch?v=yXwF5WvB3NY 2. King Crimson—In The Court Of The Crimson King. Strangely, despite trying, I’ve never liked any KC I’ve heard apart from this. Its arguably the granddaddy of all prog albums and is simply sublime. https://youtube/watch?v=omSdwssqSjc 3. Genesis—Foxtrot. Purely for “Supper’s Ready”. In many ways I prefer Nursery Crymes” but as a track, SR is hard to beat. https://youtube/watch?v=KLQORWmqpuo 4. ELP—Pictures At An Exhibition. Shows their great virtuosity live. Great invention. https://youtube/watch?v=RyyP1dryYbE 5. Yes—Close To The Edge. And You And I is the closest to a spiritual experience I get. https://youtube/watch?v=GNkWac-Nm0A 6. Twelfth Night—Live And Let Live. The neo-prog band that never made it. Geoff Mann was such a great lyricist and some songs like We Are Sane still make the hairs stand up on end. This is a great live tribute to the man. https://youtube/watch?v=m_7Jly5LidI&list=PLOjYZAlWF3-WY1_aXqGxWuOeaK3nX94rt&index=8 7. Renaissance—A Song For All Seasons. Annie Haslem! What a voice. Beautiful folksy and classical album. https://youtube/watch?v=O_DMWyBJ1vM&list=PL94gOvpr5yt3W3_x1BBfx7IY3FsUTK0bm 8. Marillion—Misplaced Childhood. A neo-prog masterpiece from Haddington Bear and the lads. Such a wonderful musical journey. https://youtube/watch?v=4I7MO5G-lM8 9. Pink Floyd—Meddle. “Echoes” is masterful the way it builds from the “sonar” pings to the spacey sections and guitar in the middle and then finishes like you’re recovering from a climax. One Of These Days” is just such fun to boogie to! https://youtube/watch?v=PlT6eeeZJok 10. Van Der Graaf Generator—Pawn Hearts. A Plague of Lighthouse Keepers. Crazy name, crazy track. As mad as a box of frogs. Love it! https://youtube/watch?v=RvhtpfPvYas
