My trip to India this time was a memorable one. I express my deepest thanks and express my gratitude to all my well-wishers and friends. I am deeply indebted to my sister Veena her son Anurag. Anurag has developed into a true scholar and I pray that he goes to Oxford this year and may all his dreams and ambitions come true. But I seriously disagree with some of his views on L .. T and also hope that the JNU Marxist crowd does not influence him. He is an adorable fellow, and set St. Stephens as a new benchmark in the family. I express my thanks to Honey who helped me at a very critical moment and also express my thanks to Sudha for the wonderful lunch. Some of my closest friends which include the Anil Mehra family need a special mention, the complete family helped me with anything I needed, I missed you Joy Mehra, let me tell you that your brother was indeed very helping and went the extra mile to spare his time for me. I loved the homemade lunches made by Mrs. Mehra. Last and not the least my closest friends of yester years and former drinking buddies like AD, Wajih Malik, etc. I also enjoyed the hospitality of Mr. Ajay Garg and also of Punjwani Builders, and had the opportunity to sit with my former boss Mr. Suresh Jagasia. The dinner and drinks with the Panjwani brothers and my former boss was a grand event till one a.m in the morning. Delhi has gone dirty but the food is still wonderful. I loved the high calorie diet which was actually thrust upon me and I always found it very unpleasant to refuse, because of obvious reasons. Greed overpowers common sense. The Chola Bhaturas , the minced meat and the paranthas organized by WM and the drinks at Mr. Garg’s office and at C. R. Park were fascinating. The classic gesticulating by his index finger WM exemplified the ground reality much to the amusement of all of us. Delhi may be dirty, overcrowded and undisciplined, the anarchy on the roads has been created by the political class, but one still enjoys Cannaught Place and its nearby areas. The new generation has taken over the city with a new zeal, which was missing in our times, probably because the disposable incomes have increased. I loved my stay and was fortunate to have many sessions with my contemporaries. The ambiance at times is overshadowed by the company you have, and it was truly amazing. Lastly Rimmi my friend’s AD’s daughter’s marriage was a grand success. It was a mammoth event with a gathering of over five hundred people over a period of two days. I express my deepest congratulations to AD and also convey by best wishes to Rimmi and Len for a very happy married life. I miss you all.
