My trip to rescue a friend almost turned into something else! I had to make an emergency trip to pick up a sick friend. It was about a 7 hour round trip drive, and I make it easily. I arrived and stopped by my friends house. While my friend got ready, I ran up to the store to pick up a coffee and a sandwich, but decided to stop and get gas first. While at the gas station I decided to get a car wash. Everything was fine, or seemed so, then the car wash failed to rinse after the wash cycle and I was left with rainbow colored suds all over my car. I told the shell station guy, who promptly reset the car wash and I drove back in. Everything was fine, it seemed, until I realized the machine seemed to be around the car and not moving back and forth at all. I looked up from my iPad to see this washing apparatus grab my windshield wiper, pull it up and out, then twist it up like a corkscrew! It pulled and shook for what seemed like forever, me screaming in terror the whole time as the car rocked back and forth, seemingly frozen on its track and at that point of the cycle. When it finally let me go and got from in front of my car, I got out of there as fast as I could. I dont know if I got rinsed, I just knew I had to get out. I felt like I was totally in danger, and trapped! The wiper is broken, the arm twisted, but an automotive store ordered a replacement that I can easily put on, and was able to bend the arm back enough that it wont scratch the windshield if I had to use it. That was hyper-intense, and it took me hours to unwind and calm down from the terror filled time in the car wash. I doubt I will ever go in one again. And I did not even take one picture! Argh!!
