My trip to the Philippines back in August was the most wonderful time of my life. I returned a HAPPILY MARRIED man and with a new outlook on life. As strange as it may seem, I also came back with a heavy heart about how many people live there in poverty. I know there are people suffering in all parts of the world but the Lord led me to the Philippines for multiple reasons. I now have a heart for the wonderful people of this country. Mostly for the people living in the streets. The video here is in Manila, which I believe has the worst of all cities here. Regardless of where, people here, especially the children, elderly, and handicapped need help. I believe I will be going back there some day to do more than just give a peso or two to a beggar. It breaks my heart to see anyone living like this with very few FORTUNATE people doing anything to help. I know there are many who are barely getting by who care but cannot afford to help anyone outside of taking care of their own families but surely there are those who can do more. If the city governments cant take care of these people then it is up to those who can actually give of themselves to help them. The little boy laying on the sidewalk here reminds me of my little nephew Mico whom I simply adore and could not stand to see living like this. I just want you all to see this and get an idea of what is going on in the Philippines. I hope this will encourage someone to reach out through some charity organization that is connected to this country and help make a difference these peoples lives. Unicef is mentioned in this video and they would be a great place to start. I can only speak for the Philippines. I can only hope that those suffering in other countries can get help to. No one should EVER live like this, not even in our country, but yet they are. When so many street children would approach me with their hand out for money and me not being able to help them the way I so much wanted to, I felt like an evil person because I had to keep walking and practically ignore them when I really wanted to just squat down and hug them all.
