My uncle Raymond lived in Sundial. In the 60s we lived in Cleveland and wed go to his house . We went up a huge hill into a holler Red dog on the road . It shined in the sun I remember how that road shined on the sun , He had a wood house , he cooked on a wood stove , the house smelled like wood and coal he had electric but no tv , he had an outhouse with newspaper instead of tissue , we brought our own, the girls got to use a slip jar at night , we had to walk quick to the toilet cos in the summer the copperheads were out . He had 2 water pumps .you pumped the water with one on the end of the porch and one in the kitchen , he had a cole stove in the center of the living room and only blankets for doors , he cooked on the stove , the house would be so hot from the stove you could hardly breathe ,he had lil tommy toe tomatoes you could pick while you sat on the steps of his porch . And his food was so good all home grown . I remember at night no street lights and it wasnt dark it was black outside . I remember the berries. And just eating the tomatoes. I loved that man and his house!
