My very first attempt at screenwriting. Today we had to write the start of a scene with no dialogue, showing our classmates. Two of my classmates were really named Danelle and Alistair. Plus 2 sisters there gave me the idea to write Gidget and Midget. And there was an old Southern guy. Mark was inspired by this dorky Asian guy whos studying electrical engineering. Sorry, all 6 of you. Of course, this is all fiction! I do not really think you are like this in real life. And since Im not returning to the class, you cant beat me up. ________________________________ FADE IN: EXT UCLA CAMPUS DAY Aerial shot. Zoom into northern part of campus. INT CLASSROOM DAY SLOW PAN around room. 20 students sit quietly, fidgeting in screenwriting class. Most have laptops open. DANELLE, 22, pops a bubble with the gum in her mouth. She is platinum blonde with tattoos. She gazes at mirror at herself and fixes her hair. ALISTAIR, 22, looks a bit like Thor, but sits with sunglasses that hang from his T-shirt. He winks at Danelle and smiles. Danelle rolls her eyes and ignores him. GIDGET and MIDGET, 20 and 21, sit on opposite side of the class. These sisters are giggling. Gidget has a serious poets look, like Daria. She wears shorts and silver shoes with thick soles. She intensely focuses at her book. Midget hums a song and whispers in Gidgets ear. TRAVIS, 69, frowns at the sisters. He wears suspenders, wire-rimmed glasses, and a ten-gallon hat. He has white hair and reminds us of Larry Hagman from “Dallas.” PROFESSOR WALTER, 70, rushes in, disheveled. He carries 5 books and several folders with jumbled paper. He is hyperventilating and sweating. He plops his books on the table and wakes up Danelle, whose bubble gum blows up over her nose. MARK, 23, walks in and looks unsuccessfully for a chair. He is too shy to ask anyone and mumbles something to Danelle. Travis sees Mark and motions at the opposite corner of the room, with an empty seat. Mark shakes his head, walks awkwardly to nearest room corner, then sits on floor.
