Report Card, +50 years: Freedom...B+ Jobs...F Jobs grade is due in part to continued racism within both of the two major parties, one covered with more tears than the other. Black unemployment is virtually unimproved in 50 years. Why? Assumptions on the one hand- black folks, especially men, assuming their ways up are limited into one of a just a few paths & people other than black folks still assuming that black folks are inherently deficient or dangerous in some ways. And political convenience on the other hand- politicians finding that it is easier (and a way of more dependably enticing votes) to treat symptoms with dependency-maintaining short-term programs than to change fundamentals and then worry about where the allegiances of a truly freed, prosperous black middle and upper-middle class might lie. ... atlantablackstar/2013/01/04/155000-new-jobs-added-but-black-unemployment-rises/ ....
