My wife Nanci wrote this post on her page. I read this and I am truly moved by it, this is how little dreams become a reality. This thing of ours is the depiction of a fantastic life adventure, it was worth all we had to endure to get to this point, standing here looking ahead all I can think in my head is:... gimme the ball, gimme the ball, I got a shot right here...! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lets do this! One night, 20 years ago, Nick and I sat at our tiny kitchen table with a lined yellow pad writing down our dreams and aspirations. One of the ideas that Nick wrote down was about a cooking show. At the time, Jacques Pépin was his Bible, and cooking was his passion. We entertained every week in our tiny apartment, rearranging the furniture to accommodate our friends and family. Kitchen table to the living room...coffee table to the bedroom. In this antiquated kitchen he started producing everything from Chocolate mousse cups molded with balloons (thats a story in itself), to schnitzel with hunter sauce, French sauces, and pizzas until all crusts were perfected. Did I mention we had no dishwasher. We decided to move forward and try to find a production Company that may be interested in finding some young talent, and who would take a chance on someone that did not have a classical culinary training. This was the hard part. Nick was working at Merrill Lynch as a trader at the time. After 2 years, and thousands of phone calls, and with very little funds left, we finally connected to a Production company located in Seattle that was producing the great Graham Kerr, a British personality, and a celebrity Chef on PBS. We thought, okay lets meet. Nick went to Seattle for a audition, and the next thing we know we were in Studio shooting the New series Cucina Amore. The first season, we shot 3 shows a day, and Nick was very much at home on camera...a natural hambone! So we went on to produce Cucina Amore for a couple of years, then decided to start our own Production Company, without the difficulties of a partnership. It was tough at the beginning, but before long, we had a new series, a special, and a cookbook...our first project complete. So hear we are...at 20 years later, about to embark on another adventure in Seattle with the great team of players from KCTS-TV. Andiamo Nicola...Seattle awaits. In Bocca al Lupo!
