My wife and I took our son to see Enders Game last year. We liked the movie, and my son liked it so much, he pretty much made sure I picked up the Blu-Ray when it came out, and I recently did. My initial reaction upon seeing Enders Game was that its a serious version of The Last Starfighter (1984). This scifi movie takes place in the future and focuses on a young teenage cadet named Ender Wiggin (Asa Butterfield). An alien species called the Formics attacked Earth years earlier before Ender was born...according to the International Fleet officers, Colonel Hyram Graff (Harrison Ford, who is most famous for playing Han Solo, Indiana Jones, Jack Ryan, and James Marshall, President Of The United States, in Air Force One) and Major Gwen Anderson (Viola Davis), the Formics are still a threat to Earth, as they inform the Wiggin Family, while trying to recruit Ender for Battle School...once enrolled, Graff and Anderson would oversee Enders development. Throughout the movie, it is interesting to see how Ender handles adversity and obstacles...we see how he faces bullies with no fear by standing up to them...we also see how smart Ender is as he develops strategies to outsmart his opponents in simulated battles and wargames. As he continues to progress and show promise, Graff promotes Ender to a point where he eventually gets his own command with the Dragon Army...and sure enough, the Dragon Army moves up in rankings. The final exam for Dragon Army comes on Graduation Day at a former Formic colony near the Formic home world, where the International Fleet has established a base. There is a twist at the end of Enders Game, and being that its a recent home movie, I will not reveal what happens here. The movie contains a decent amount of special visual effects and sound effects. If you can get past the scifi alien aspect of it, Enders Game is a good story and its a nice family movie...I highly recommend it. youtube/watch?v=X5ev-nOWJH8
