My wife says that my “what I learned in church” post yesterday - TopicsExpress

My wife says that my “what I learned in church” post yesterday was borderline gossipy and boastful. So to clarify: I wasn’t trying to say “ha ha, our family is wonderful” or “better than yours”. I was honestly relieved because, for once, our family (me particularly) wasn’t the subject of the crisis. We fight and sin and fail better than anyone else we know :) We recently had to have a “moment” with a family member about a bad decision, and I heard later that this person’s parents, whom we love and are friends with, were afraid that there was permanent damage to the relationship. My stepdaughter laughed when she told me that, because we just don’t work like that at our house. We resolved the problem and we don’t have time to get hung up. I have been working hard at learning to recognize when people apologize and change, working to recognize them as a changed person because they have earned that (when they earn it). One of my problems has been holding on to “past versions” of people’s behavior even after they have made amends to me. I’m trying to study natural consequences so I can avoid them, having learned about them the hard way. After my divorce a hundred years ago, there was a song called “No More Drama” by Mary J. Blige that has been an anthem to me. “No More Drama” is one of my personal priorities. That’s all :)
