My wishes/hopes for the Class of 2017: You will be happy in your chosen career path and know that it has many avenues to travel. Roadblocks are there (like how hard anatomy was) but with a little hard work and thought , you can plow through them. You hold your instruments correctly and will appreciate that skill in the years to come. You know your right from your left and what is correct. You answer questions in the clinic and with your clients with confidence and skill or you can know when to say, I dont remember, but give me a minute and Ill look it up or call someone for directions on how to find the answer myself. You know the difference between a hip bone and a piece of gut. You know much more today than you knew in August and have developed the skills to ask yourself what do I see? What do I know? and therefore work toward the answer. And finally, I hope you remember that the practice of veterinary medicine is an art--it is a never ending, life-long adventure in learning, discovering and amazement filled with ups and downs, successes and failures.
