My word for today... funky Dixieland! Hmm.. nope... that wasnt me.. the voice in my head was the Doobie Brothers singing Black Water in my headphones. (Ive been listening to Cowboy Yup this morning.) The Doobies stopped playing, so I probably need a new thought to ponder on besides black water... I think... I will begin my day thinking of... pets. Pets are a good thing... sorta like people but act like they love you all the time not just some of the time. They act like they care what you are saying... will gaze intently and cock their ears towards the sound of your voice. They never try to be anything but real... be what they are... they see the real you inside too. They purr and wag tails... now and then they lick you... sometimes they might bite... usually that is my fault... sometimes I might bite... that is usually your fault! Ha... teasing.. I dont bite! I am thankful for pets this morning.. the two dogs... Midnight and Peedee, and Sadie the beautiful cat (Miss Gail makes me say she is beautiful.. geez!!!!)... They are almost like children to us... we are blessed they chose us to live with. “i made myself a snowball As perfect as can be. I thought Id keep it as a pet, And let it sleep with me. I made it some pajamas And a pillow for its head. Then last night it ran away, But first - It wet the bed.” Shel Silverstein “Owners of dogs will have noticed that, if you provide them with food and water and shelter and affection, they will think you are god. Whereas owners of cats are compelled to realize that, if you provide them with food and water and shelter and affection, they draw the conclusion that they are gods.” Christopher Hitchens, The Portable Atheist: Essential Readings for the Nonbeliever Every woman should have four pets in her life. A mink in her closet, a jaguar in her garage, a tiger in her bed, and a jackass who pays for everything. Paris Hilton Pets have more love and compassion in them than most humans. Robert Wagner I never married because there was no need. I have three pets at home which answer the same purpose as a husband. I have a dog which growls every morning, a parrot which swears all afternoon, and a cat that comes home late at night. Marie Corelli Pets are humanizing. They remind us we have an obligation and responsibility to preserve and nurture and care for all life. James Cromwell Peace, Love and Pets... to you... Me
