My worst nightmare in a cinema seeing that in 3D with your average - TopicsExpress

My worst nightmare in a cinema seeing that in 3D with your average cinema sound system calibration. A total relentless audio visual headache leaving you numb. Michael Bay doesnt do or know subtle in any form.but compared to where hes at now.Films like The original Bad Boys, The Rock and Armmageddon are almost witty drama by comparison. ( but they were Fun & knew when to stop or reign it it ) at 165minutes long this goes on n on with everything set to MAX excess +!!! No action movie thats good needs to be that long. ( remember the template of the 80 action movie - 90/95 minutes. Get in.Get out.Get home in time for tea. But it works ) The best action/adventure films ( excluding Lord of the Rings.cuz they had lots to say) should be well paced and not too long.you need time to breathe., take things in etc. (Jaws? Alien?Jurassic Park?Raiders? Temple of Doom? Empire? Jedi? Bourne films? Fugitive? ? First Blood? Even RamboII) all barely breach 2 hrs. All well made and well edited and have good pacing regardless of relentless action or have a bit to say and tension to add n build on. Like wise with the best sound design n sound mix. It isnt about how loud it is or how much channel separation there is.like the films themselves. The best can do bombastic and big stuff.but you need subtly - quiet bits to create atmosphere, tension and suspense. So you will jump at the loud bit as planned. Also no surprise all those films I listed all have that in abundance and have innovative sound mixes & all either won or were nominated for Oscars for there sound design. Sitting near 3 hrs with relentless overdone 3 overly loud unsubtle sound on full volume in a average cinema with poor sound calibration is my worst night mare. May as well be hit over the head with a mallet for 3 hrs! !!!
