My younger brother was diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrigs Disease) - TopicsExpress

My younger brother was diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrigs Disease) back in January of this year. For those of you not familiar with ALS, it is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. Basically all the nerves that control voluntary muscle movement die which leads paralysis and eventuality death. There is no cure or treatment for it and the average life expectancy is 2-5 years. The diagnosis is devastating to the person with the disease and their families. It has been a nightmare for my brother and my family. You may have heard about the #icebucketchallenge, a viral phenomenon whose purpose is to raise money for ALS research. The challenge is simple: Either donate $100 to any ALS charity, or douse yourself with ice, film it, and pass the challenge on to others via social media. Im reaching out to you to help me create awareness for ALS and to help raise money for ALS research. Please help put an end to this horrible disease. Take the ice bucket challenge and please donate what ever you can to ALS TDI. alstdi.org ALS TDI is an aggressive, Cure driven effort focused on finding treatments and cures for ALS. Please share and help me spread the word! Thank you!
