MyCentralJersey EDITORIAL: Port Authority needs big reform - Wisniewski’s conclusion is that a major overhaul is needed, highlighted by taking away some of the gubernatorial control over appointments of commissioners and top directors. A smaller package of reforms that expands public access and oversight, among other initiatives, was approved by the full Senate and has bipartisan support. But Wisniewski is standing firm so far, insisting that without comprehensive reform now, lesser reforms will be rendered largely useless. The package of smaller measures still hasn’t made it out of Wisniewski’s transportation committee. He’s right to be stubborn.
